Hacking Sicily

Need a little White Lotus in your life without the crowds?

I’m starting to dig into 2025 trip planning, especially the European destinations that need to be enjoyed in the off and shoulder seasons.

Let’s face it, I don’t think anyone is interested in the over-tourism, crowds, and extreme heat that summer in Europe brings (with the exception of some northern Europe locales and Polar regions).

One of the European destinations that continuously gets a lot of requests these days is Sicily. And I’m here to tell you that if you want to visit Nov-April is the ideal time to go.

With that said, let’s get right into it with a few options to consider ‘hacking Sicily’ in the off-season and do it in a way that suits your budget and schedule.

To set the stage, here’s a handy Insiders Guide to Sicily to browse some key points of interest and hotel properties to check out

How about a completely customized land-based tour tailor made to your needs and budget? What’s great about these is you can hire guides/drivers for just one day or multiple days - totally up to you and how you want to travel.

Personally I would opt to create 2-3 days touring around to different parts of Sicily mixed with just staying in one place, around the hotel property, and enjoying the surroundings.

Wanna go full White Lotus? Then let’s get you booked at the Four Seasons where Season Two was shot! Plus I can get you hooked up with all kinds of perks like complimentary upgrades, property credits, breakfast on that terrace….ahhhh.

Rocco Forte would be my second five star pick

There’s also a few terrific four-star options I found that allow you to stretch your dollars further…

Villa Carlotta in Taormina looks pretty chic and would be a fantastic home base for touring around.

As would the Principe di Villa Franca right in the heart of downtown Palermo

If you’re crunched for time and want to package up your visit to Sicily into a cruise that stops in a few different ports check these out….

Explora does a day in Palermo on their Journey in April called Myths, Mountains, and Magnificent Ruins

Want to bring the kids along or have a multi-gen group that you need to cater to? Royal Caribbean has got you covered on a Brilliance of The Seas itinerary

MSC World Europa has several options that call on multiple ports in Sicily
